The Evolution of Xtrata
We’re proud to unveil a bold evolution of our company, our identity, and our mission.
This transformation is more than a new name. It’s a renewed commitment to the founding vision established by Dr. Nasser Saebi, Master Structural Engineer and inventor of the Saebi Alternative Building System (SABS).
A Message from the Founder
Vision Turned Mission
Dr. Nasser Saebi, the founder of Xtrata International Group and Master Engineer, dedicated his life and career to developing the SABS technology

1956
A Foundation Built on Excellence
In 1956, Nasser Saebi distinguished himself as one of the top students in his high school in Tehran, Iran, earning a full scholarship to pursue his college education in the United States. At a time when such opportunities were rare, he became one of the first Iranian citizens to receive a full-ride scholarship to study abroad, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to engineering, education, and innovation. He attended the University of Iowa, where he studied Structural Engineering, laying the academic foundation for his future work in engineering and construction innovation.
1963–1971
Advanced Research Inspired by Nature
After graduating at the top of his class, Nasser Saebi pursued his Master’s and Ph.D. studies at theUniversity of Utahbetween 1964 and 1973. His academic research focused on structural systems inspired by natural forms and materials, including caves, tree-like structures, and traditional clay and mud housing, examining how these environments achieve strength, stability, and livability through efficient use of material. After several years of studying these natural structural elements, this body of research ultimately formed the basis of his doctoral thesis, which laid the conceptual foundation for what would later become the SABS Building System.

1971-1994
Professional Practice and Global Leadership
After completing his academic research and formal education, Dr. Nasser Saebi began his professional career working with leading structural engineering firms in the United States. He later went on to establish his own practice in the Middle East, founding Qobar, an advanced structural engineering firm focused on complex, large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects.
Under Dr. Saebi’s leadership as Chief Executive Officer, Qobar became a prominent engineering firm in the region, contributing to the redesign and structural modernization of major oil refinery facilities across the Persian Gulf. He continued leading and expanding the firm through the mid-1990s, solidifying his role as an international authority in structural engineering and large-scale industrial design.
1994-1999
Bringing the SABS Vision to Life
In 1994, Dr. Nasser Saebi stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer and returned to the United States with his family, relocating to Phoenix, Arizona. With decades of professional and academic experience behind him, he made it his sole mission to complete the work he began with his 1971 doctoral thesis, to bring the SABS concept into practical reality. Restarting his research from the ground up, Dr. Saebi focused on identifying materials capable of performing in accordance with the structural principles outlined in his original thesis. This phase of development involved extensive study of cement, glass fiber, foam, polymers, and sand, alongside the application of advanced structural engineering software and computational methods. While the foundational theory already existed, new research was required to determine material combinations that could meet real-world structural, constructability, and performance demands. Through this process, Dr. Saebi successfully developed both thestructural engineering methodology and the analytical software approachnecessary to bring SABS to life, while also refining the material science behind the system. This work ultimately resulted in the creation of the SABS three-layer composite system, forming the technological and structural foundation of what the system is today.

1999-2009
Formal Validation
With the SABS structural methodology fully engineered, the next decade focused on formal validation. From 1999 to 2009, Strata International Group subjected the system to extensive third-party testing in accordance with ASTM standards, UBC requirements, and ICC-ES acceptance criteria.
SABS was rigorously evaluated for structural strength, racking shear, axial loading, fire resistance, freeze-thaw durability, weather protection, and roof fire classification. The testing confirmed that the three-layer composite system performs as a true monolithic structural shell capable of meeting demanding life-safety and structural performance standards.
This process culminated in the issuance of ICC-ES Evaluation Report ESR-1638, formally recognizing SABS as compliant with the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) for structural walls, floors, and roof systems.
By 2009, SABS had evolved from an innovative concept into a fully code-recognized structural system validated, tested, and ready for widespread application.
2009-2025
Bringing the SABS Vision to Life
From 2009 through 2025, following the achievement of ICC-ESR 1638 accreditation from the International Code Council (ICC), and after dedicating more than a decade to securing the SABS Building System’s formal evaluation approval, Dr. Nasser Saebi immediately shifted his focus toward active development and global expansion. What began in the United States soon evolved into international operations across Asia, the Middle East, North America, and the Caribbean, with projects utilizing the SABS Building System Technology.
In 2018, Dr. Saebi appointed his son, Amir Saebi, as Vice President of Strata International Group, Inc. Together, they worked to modernize and revitalize manufacturing processes, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the accessibility and scalability of the SABS product in today’s market. Their leadership reinforced Strata’s core mission: to expand the availability of affordable housing while delivering structurally advanced building systems engineered for superior safety, resilience against natural disasters, and long-term protection of both lives and investments.

2025
Passing the Torch
Dr. Nasser Saebi met Izhak Ben Shabat and his partners, and their visions immediately aligned through a shared dedication to reshaping the global housing landscape. United in their pursuit of delivering truly affordable housing and introducing transformative construction technology to the world, they recognized the profound impact the SABS Building System could have in creating sustainable, resilient communities worldwide.
On January 17, 2025, Dr. Saebi formally entered into partnership with Izhak Ben Shabat and his partners. Tragically, just two days later, Dr. Saebi passed away. Though his passing marked the end of a remarkable life, his legacy endures. His mission remains unchanged: to serve humanity through a building system that is high in quality, affordable in cost, and sustainable for generations to come.
